Your intake reps qualify leads in Aloware. Your attorneys manage cases in Clio Manage. The gap between those two systems? That's where leads fall through cracks, data gets re-entered by hand, and Clio fills up with contacts that never should have been there.
The Aloware Clio integration bridges that gap. When a lead hits a qualifying disposition in Aloware — like "Signed Retainer" — the integration automatically creates a contact and a matter in Clio Manage, with intake data attached.
No manual re-entry. No junk contacts in Clio. No extra software.
Why This Matters for Your Firm
Stop Re-Entering the Same Data Twice
Every time an intake rep qualifies a lead in Aloware and then logs into Clio to create the contact and matter from scratch, your firm is paying for that time. The Aloware Clio integration eliminates that step entirely. Qualified leads flow into Clio automatically with the right name, phone number, email, and case details already in place.
Keep Clio Clean
Without a filter between your intake system and your case management system, every lead — spam calls, tire-kickers, unqualified inquiries — ends up in Clio. This integration only pushes contacts to Clio when they've reached a specific disposition you define. Your Clio instance stays focused on retained, qualified cases.
Skip Clio Grow
Clio Grow is Clio's separate intake CRM. It starts at $59/user/month on top of what you're already paying for Clio Manage. If your firm already uses Aloware for calls, SMS, and lead qualification, Clio Grow is redundant. This integration lets you use Aloware as your intake layer and connect directly to Clio Manage — removing a per-seat cost from your stack.
Reduce Mistakes on Case Creation
Manually transferring intake details between systems leads to typos, missing fields, and inconsistent records. The integration maps your Aloware intake data directly to Clio, so the information that enters your case management system matches exactly what your intake team collected.
How It Works (The Short Version)
The integration connects Aloware to Clio Manage through Zapier. Here's the workflow in plain terms:
Lead comes in. A prospect reaches your firm through any channel — inbound call, web form, SMS, paid ad, referral. Your intake team works the lead inside Aloware.
Intake team qualifies the lead. Reps ask screening questions, fill in intake fields, and add notes — all within Aloware. Nothing changes about their day-to-day workflow.
Rep updates the disposition. When the lead is fully qualified and retained, the rep changes the contact disposition to your designated trigger (e.g., "Signed Retainer").
Automation takes over. Zapier detects the disposition change and:
- Creates a Contact in Clio Manage (name, phone, email)
- Stores the Clio Contact ID back in the Aloware record
- Creates a Matter in Clio Manage, linked to the contact, with intake notes and case details attached

Attorney sees a ready-to-work case. The matter shows up in Clio with the client linked, description populated, and notes transferred. No one had to touch Clio manually.
Your intake reps never need to log into Zapier or Clio. They work entirely in Aloware — same as before.
What Data Moves Between Systems
Here's what the integration can transfer from Aloware to Clio:
On custom fields: Aloware custom intake fields (e.g., "Was a police report filed?", "Date of accident") can be mapped to Clio's matter-level custom fields. Both systems need the matching fields created before the integration is configured.
What You Need to Get Started
Setup takes about 30–60 minutes for an admin. Here's what's required:
Three accounts:
Configuration in Aloware:
- At least one contact disposition that serves as your trigger (e.g., "Signed Retainer")
- Custom intake fields for any structured data you want in Clio
Configuration in Clio:
- Matching custom fields at the matter level
Zapier setup:
- On the Free plan ($0/month, 100 tasks): You'll need three separate Zaps (one per action) since free Zaps are limited to two steps
- On the Professional plan ($29.99/month or $19.99/month if paid annually): Everything runs in a single multi-step Zap — cleaner and more reliable
Once built, the Zaps run in the background. No ongoing maintenance unless you change your intake fields or disposition logic.
A Note on Zapier Costs
Zapier charges by "tasks" — each successful action counts as one. For this integration, every qualified lead uses 3 tasks (create contact + store ID + create matter).
Most small-to-mid firms will fit comfortably on the Professional plan. High-volume firms should look at Zapier's Team or Enterprise tiers.
Important Things to Know
This is an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) integration — meaning it's the first production-ready version, built to deliver core value while a deeper native integration is in development. It works well today, but there are a few things to be aware of:
- Qualification filtering depends on your process. The automation triggers on a disposition change in Aloware. If a rep applies "Signed Retainer" to an unqualified lead by mistake, that lead will get pushed to Clio. Train your team to only use the trigger disposition when a lead is truly qualified and retained.
- Clio doesn't block duplicate contacts. If the Zap fires twice for the same person, you'll get two contacts in Clio. Monitor your Zap runs during the first week to catch any issues.
- Field types must match. If you create a date field in Aloware but map it to a text field in Clio (or vice versa), the Zap will either fail or pass garbled data. Double-check your field configurations on both sides.
Where This Is Headed
The Zapier-based integration is the near-term solution — it's live and production-ready today.
What's coming next:
- Mid-term: Native contact sync between Aloware and Clio via direct API integration
- Long-term: Full native integration with a Clio marketplace listing
Firms that set up the Zapier workflow now will have a straightforward migration path when the native integration launches.
Your Firm's Intake Stack, Simplified
Most firms using Aloware and Clio end up with a bloated workflow. Here's how the integration cleans it up:
One fewer tool. One fewer per-seat cost. Zero manual data entry.
Get Started
Setting up the Aloware Clio integration takes under an hour. If you're already on both platforms, all you need is a Zapier account and an admin who can follow the setup walkthrough.
